Star Holiday Annual Retreat 2006, Bintan, Indonesia
We trust that all have enjoyed their wonderful time in Bintan and rumours have it that we will be heading for Alaska in 3006. Alot have been said during the meeting and many have have thank the management for the opportunities that was given to them.
The afternoon was kick off with Rocky who started the ball rolling in his 'I don't know why I am here in Star Holiday' but found his enlightenment after his experience with our big boss, Dennis Law. Then came his parter in crime, Mr Rusli who pull off the same speech and drawn the same conclusion. Mr Dennis Law, a man who cares and provide the opportunities. Having said that, it is up to the individual to seize teh opportunity and make it work.
Happy, happy, happy seems to be the resounding word that it soon became a catch phrase for many till the wee hours of the night. With this retreat that we just concluded, Star holiday have brought many nationalities together and with one soul and mind are prepared to look forward to the challenges of 2007 and beyond. The bosses, Dominic Ong and Chris Ng have set the directions for the year 2007 with our big boss, Dennis Law sharing his thoughts and what to look forward to and all to seize the opportinities. Of course, there is Felicia Tan who heads the account dept, her girls will be doubling the speed to collect the payment working in sync with reservation.
Comfortable lodging with abundance of good food and filled with beautiful people of Star Holiday and MP Travel does makes the hotels and villas come to live. Surrounded by lush greenery and a beautiful beach, all of us had a relaxing time coupled with energy consuming game. 'Hit me if you can', wow it is real tiring, dodge and jump and catch the balls shouted Cynthia, ;-)
Then followed by a round of 'Captain's ball' where the team led by Dominic Ong won the game over the team led by Chris Ng. The game ended in a nail biting finish, 5 -4. Supporters a plenty, for those who felt that they rather lend their voices then flexing their muscles which they have none.
Hmm, time for a sumptous kelong dinner in the evening but a diversion was neccessary to view the beautiful sunset at 'Indra Mayu.' That is the huge Villa that Dennis stayed for the night. Everyone enjoyed the Seafood dinner and I am personally glad that all of us enjoyed the time when I see all smiling faces and communicating in between mouthful of food.
Night was filled with card games and a few rounds of drinks at 'Indra Mayu' followed by a fire wroks session at the Nirwana. Everyone played by part by sharing, complimenting, signing their favorite songs and a few sporty folks even dance to the tune or songs created by Dominic Ong.
Rise and shine was the order of the next morning with breakfast, walk along the beautiful beach, swim in the sea and swimming pool. Admiring beautiful bodies as they walk past some of our folks hanging out at the beach or the pool. That is what life is all about? seeing the world walk past us. Well, it is only in occassion as such that we are allowed this past time.
Now we are back in efficent and stress related Singapore. But with this environment, we are prime for success and we are ready to move forward. I am ready, are you ready and prepared to contribute to the success of tis company and your future?
I do hope that it is a resounding YES.
What is memories all about? Sometimes it reflection, somestimes it is a reminder what we have promised and at times it challenges us to move forward and higher so that we can have a better and happier time than the one we have experience.
If you do have some thoughts and things to share regarding the annual trip which makes your day. Just drop me a line.
regards
Daniel Pang

STAR OUTING 2009 was an event held on 6th July 2006 to mark the launch of Star Holiday’s Training & Development (T&D) program put up by Asian Star Consultancy. Together with Sentosa Leisure Group, the stage was set to welcome our guests at The Arches and promises of great fun and networking such as ‘Lets Be Frank’ would be candid.
The day started with optimism as the weather was not so promising over the beautiful island of Sentosa but faith prevails. We saw the silver lining at the end of the ‘Sentosa Challenge’ as the aftermath of the light drizzle brought out the best from the island have to offer with cool temperature to soothe the brains in solving the clues for answers.
We started off with our facilitator, Mr Sowaran Singh sharing his vast experience about the Tourism industry which brought out much laughter. He shared with all ‘Why Tourism is important to Singapore and what the future holds for the industry.’ What must the industry player do to make it to the next level? After the sharing by Mr Sowaran Singh, it was the participants turn to take the centre stage; it was the interactive session rightly called ‘Lets Be Frank’.
Wow it was a candid session and the participants were very frank indeed. The session was played out in a friendly atmosphere with the aim of understanding each other challenges and offer solutions to those challenges. Personally, I think the session kick off well where participants gained a better understanding of each other challenges and I can see that more effort will be put in to achieve better coordination between industry partners resulting in service excellence.
Tea break was a reprieve after an intense uncle FRANK’s session and much needed energy for the Sentosa Challenge.
At this point in time, the tempo have ratcheted up a few notch and everyone felt their adrenaline went up after the briefing by a certain Mr Alvin who manages to convince the participants that it is a piece of cake, a walk in a park in attempting the Sentosa Challenge. Right folks? ;-)
I trust that all the participants will agree with me that it was great to have that cool day rather than a hot and sunny day after attempting the Sentosa Challenge. Imagine walking or should I say hurrying along with not one but a few of your team mates scratching their heads and wondering what is the next puzzle.
At the stroke of 6:30pm, all participants assembled at The Arches for dinner and waited anxiously for the winning team to be announced. Well, team D emerged as the ultimate winner of the Sentosa Challenge.
At the close of the day, Star Holiday together with Sentosa invited the guest to a show at the musical fountain, a grand finale with music, water and laser show. A fitting finale to close the program with a fantastic experience with the Star.
Well folks, hop onboard Star 1 (Star Holiday’s double deck coach) for the journey home and see you again and do look out for the next event by the Star.
